I think the poor substitute hits closer to home at *this* moment as we JUST took the kids to the circus. And it was a (on the outside looking in) "nice" one, you know? The animals seemed very healthy and "happy enough"...
And I was so looking forward to seeing the Tigers, of course... but when they brought them out I found myself becoming more and more depressed...
Seemingly "healthy" or not... it seemed a shame to see such power reigned in within a tiny circular cage... jumping upon gilded stools and through burning hoops...
It was sad.
